In addition, Alcoa is a key player in the development of metal alloys for very diverse applications and innovations that provide a skeleton for all the major industries, like construction, transportation, consumer goods, electronics, communications and packaging.

In addition to the awards named in Phoenix, the Alcoa Foundation provided support for the Intel ISEF 2013 "Education Outreach Day" held on May 16 at the Phoenix Convention Center. Alcoa support helped enable more than 4,000 local schoolchildren and teachers to attend and spend the day interacting with the world's top young high school scientists as well as to participate in hands-on STEM activities.

Alcoa's support is part of an overall three-year partnership and $75,000 grant to the Society of Science & the Public, to support Intel ISEF awards and Education Outreach Day annually in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
